Family, Fiesta, Food, and Fun!
Family is an important part of who we are, where we came from, and our future going forward. This past week my family came together for a family reunion and to celebrate my dad's 85th birthday. It was a treat to get to meet a few new members of the family and catch up with cousins that we had not seen for over 5 years.
I was blessed to grow up in beautiful Santa Fe, New Mexico and this time of year there is spectacular. Santa Fe is tucked into the Rocky Mountains and the climate is more like Colorado with cold nights, crisp mornings, clear blue sky days, and dry air. In the fall Santa Fe has fresh Hatch chile's roasting, bright fall leaves, and more stars in the sky at night then you can imagine.
We ate lots of good food including tamales, green and red chile enchiladas, and tres leches cake, all staples of a New Mexico diet. We had hoped to see the famous Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta but our hopes were "deflated" when the day we went the winds prevented the balloons from launching. We will have to try again next year for that!
Family, fiesta, food, and fun made this reunion one that we will all treasure in our hearts and memories for years to come.
Best Wishes, Elisa Wilcox
